"Since My Soul Loved" - according to Yitzhak Yedid in the liner notes - deals with the search of people for happiness, which they normally seek in the wrong places. In fact, it is hidden in the soul, and happiness can only be found after you have taken the path of love. This is wisdom, which we all wish would be more widespread, especially given the latest developments in the Middle East.

In 2004, the musicians from KOJ set this treasure of a silent movie, "The Wildcat", to music, having been contracted to do so by the Moods jazz club and the Filmpodium of the city of Zurich. A bittersweet and at times ribald and ironic composition resulted; Lubitsch's language of images inspires one to conduct character and milieu studies. The musical themes and motifs are intertwined with improvisation and set against one another. Composition and improvisation interlink smoothly and ingeniously.

Describing the music is not easy, because it defies any simple categorization. Of course, improvisation is an elementary component, but clever and unique melody lines also wind across a solid, often rock music-like and funky groove.

Blaser’s profound knowledge of modern classical composition techniques and his studies of modern composers make him able to compose complexly structured arrangements, but with the required strictness that does not permit any arbitrariness or a lack of goal. On the other hand, the result does not sound artificial in any sense, but instead radiates a relaxed mood that makes listening a pleasure.

Water nymphs are know from ancient legends as female beings, who live in water and bring death through their beauty and song or at least prophesy ruin and depravation – usually of men. The “Blue Water Nymph” of the international trio also casts a spell on listeners, but proclaims enjoyment of outstanding and fascinating music.

The compositions have very demanding rhythms and melody lines on one hand and require the maximum skill of all the musicians involved. On the other hand, the creative participation of all artists in the overall work can be felt as well as can the effort to create a work that is neither sterile nor academic. To the contrary, the music is clearly structured, but very refined – a CD, which you often enjoy listening to for that reason!
